Steel Weight Calculator
Plate, sheet, coil, round bar, rebar or tube — get kg per piece, per metre, total kg, tonnes and trucks. Carbon steel 7.85 g/cm³ (stainless preset included).
How steel weight is calculated
Weight = volume × density, with carbon steel at 7850 kg/m³ (stainless ≈ 8000). Plate/sheet/coil = width × length × thickness × density. A round bar or rebar = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × length × density, so 16 mm rebar ≈ 1.58 kg/m and 25 mm ≈ 3.85 kg/m. A tube = π × ((OD/2)² − (OD/2 − wall)²) × length × density. Geometry gives a better answer than a "typical coil weight," so this tool derives from your dimensions. For the production carbon footprint of each steel product see the environmental impact calculator; for shipping see freight CO₂.
