Editorial standards and corrections
MatQuo serves people who compare industrial materials, trade flows and practical conversion costs. Its purpose is to make source data usable without hiding the calculation or overstating what the evidence can support.
Who MatQuo is for
The primary reader is a buyer, seller, converter, analyst, engineer or student who needs a fast first view of a material question: what the official trade record says, which definition applies, how units convert, or which assumptions change a result. MatQuo is useful before a quotation or technical review, not a substitute for either.
What MatQuo contributes
Source databases publish the underlying record. MatQuo contributes a consistent product scope, comparable units, transparent formulas, linked tariff and origin context, practical worked examples, and explicit limits. It also keeps unlike evidence apart: customs averages are not called market prices, reference FX is not called an executable rate, and life-cycle figures with different boundaries are not ranked as equivalents.
Source selection
- Prefer primary public authorities, standards bodies and identified industry datasets.
- Name the source beside the relevant figure and link to the underlying service or publication where practical.
- State geography, observation period, unit and material scope.
- Use secondary reporting only for contextual leads, never as an unlabeled replacement for a primary dataset.
- Omit a claim when the available evidence cannot support it.
Calculations and interpretation
MatQuo publishes the formula or deterministic rule behind material calculations. Worked examples are labelled illustrative and use visible assumptions. Editorial interpretation must follow the cited evidence and must distinguish observation from inference. MatQuo does not publish invented testing, personal experience, professional credentials, price assessments or forecasts.
Updates and review
Automated data panels follow their source release schedules. Editorial pages are reviewed when source definitions, tariff rules, calculator logic or material assumptions change. A page’s observation date identifies the data period; a page review date identifies the editorial check. Because official datasets can be revised, an earlier displayed value may change after a source update.
Commercial relationships
Advertising and eligible affiliate links help support the site. They do not determine which material, source, conclusion or calculator result appears. Affiliate links are labelled and use sponsored link attributes. MatQuo remains useful without an advertisement or purchase and does not sell, broker or arrange industrial-material transactions.
Corrections
Report a suspected error through the contact page and include the page, figure and source if available. MatQuo checks the cited source, the extraction or calculation, and the page label. Confirmed material errors are corrected at the page or data layer; the relevant review date is updated. Differences caused by a later official revision are identified as source revisions rather than silently presented as original transcription errors.
Responsibility
MatQuo is responsible for its page structure, calculations, labels and editorial interpretation. Source publishers remain responsible for their source datasets. Readers remain responsible for confirming commercial quotations, material specifications, customs treatment and regulatory obligations with the relevant counterparty or authority.
